You are what you eat and what you eat eats...

As I was riding my bike on the trainer and watching a Netflix show called "Chef's Table", Dan Barber Said, "You are what you eat... but you are also what you eat eats."  We have all heard the saying "You are what you eat", but have you really stopped and thought about the fact that you are also what your food eats too.  Since hearing this I have continually been thinking about how this really turns nutrition and how we think of food upside down.

Nutrition is a huge part of our training and really determines how our bodies perform.  Think about this... you own a one of a kind race car that requires the most premium gas around.  Do you fill that car up with regular gas and think that everything is going to work properly?  No, you give that car what it needs and that is the most premium gas around.

Your body is a sports car and you require the most premium fuel too.  If you are struggling to perform the way you want to perform, there is probably an issue with your nutritional intake.  Certain food groups or foods you are eating could be having a negative impact on your health and fitness without you realizing it.  How do you know if this is happening?  You have to take a step back and evaluate what you are eating.  My wife and I decided this new year we were going to strip our diet down completely.  We are going to know exactly what we are putting in our bodies and what those foods are eating too.  We just began the WHOLE 30 diet.  Now this isn't a diet for me to lose weight with, this is for me to strip my body of the nasty fuel that could be causing me to under perform or have stomach issues.

I will report back with how this process is going and what I am learning about my body and the foods that fuel it.

Step back, take a look and evaluate what you are eating.  Educate yourself and think about this "You are what you eat... But you are also what you eat eats". Let's make 2016 the year of health and fitness together.  If you have any questions about nutrition and how it affects your performance, we have some great resources for you.

Certain food groups (like sugar, grains, dairy and legumes) could be having a negative impact on your health and fitness without you even realizing it. Are your energy levels inconsistent or non-existent? Do you have aches and pains that can’t be explained by over-use or injury? Are you having a hard time losing weight no matter how hard you try? Do you have some sort of condition (like skin issues, digestive ailments, seasonal allergies or fertility issues) that medication hasn’t helped? These symptoms may be directly related to the foods you eat – even the “healthy” stuff. So how do you know if (and how) these foods are affecting you? - See more at: http://whole30.com/whole30-program-rules/#sthash.KuCDyBPa.dpuf
