Meet the Team

Avery and Erin Ainsworth - Store Owners

Avery and ErinFleet Feet Sports Montgomery is locally owned and operated by Avery and Erin Ainsworth. They are both Alabama born and met in Birmingham while Erin was obtaining her Master’s degree. They are parents to one son, Emory and two dogs, Honey and Stella. You will surely see Erin pushing Emory in the stroller while walking Honey around the midtown area, and Avery out on runs with Stella. They are excited to be back in Alabama and closer to friends and family and have fallen in love with Montgomery and the surrounding communities.

Avery grew up in a running family and has always had a passion for endurance sports. After his father would finish his races, Avery and his brother would run the kids’ runs. While in high school, Avery was a member of his cross country team that won two state titles. In college, Avery put running to the side and lived a more inactive lifestyle. Once he started training for races again, he gained more focus and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Civil Engineering.

After a short career in Civil Engineering, Avery decided to follow his dream of owning a running store. He immediately started working at the Fleet Feet Sports Jackson in Mississippi. Avery very quickly worked his way up to General Manager and learned every aspect of the business. After watching peoples’ lives change through the Fleet Feet Store in Jackson, he knew he had chosen the right path. In the South, we are labeled as overweight and lazy, and Avery felt it was time for us to make a change and get moving.

Erin has always led an active lifestyle, even getting her Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Exercise Science. She then went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from UAB. Before meeting Avery, Erin had run a 5k and went to the gym regularly. Once they started dating, Avery’s passion rubbed off on her and she began signing up for bigger challenges; half marathons, triathlons and her first marathon. When Avery mentioned that he wanted to open his own running store, Erin jumped right on board. She wanted to share her knowledge of healthy lifestyle management with others, as a way to assist in making Montgomery a model healthy community.

Cecily Jackson

Cecily is a Montgomery, AL transplant, who was not an active kid growing up, as her parents stressed academics over athletics. But on a dare from a friend, she to completed a 5k for her 40th birthday. After that Cecily caught the bug and has completed several 5ks and 10ks and half marathons. She is currently training for her first full marathon. After being a regular Fleet Feet customer and Saturday morning comic relief, she joined the team in November 2014. Cecily has enjoyed mentoring with the NoBoundaries Program and watching as members of the Montgomery community takes steps toward healthier lifestyles. It has been a huge encouragement for her as well.

Cecily is a graduate of Spelman College and Auburn University. She currently serves as Co-Ambassador for Black Girls RUN! Montgomery and Board Vice President for Girls on the Run-River Region.

Josh Jenkins

Josh, a native of Boaz Alabama, always loved sports and the outdoors. Baseball was his first love; throwing a ball as hard as you could, running the bases before the throw, and just getting dirty. Then came football; catching long passes and sprinting away from tacklers. One thing both sports had in common was running. Josh’s love for running exploded in high school and lead to a cross country scholarship to Auburn University Montgomery where he competed for two seasons. After meeting Avery at a table in the Student Center, accepting applications, he became a member of the Fleet Feet Montgomery family starting Day One.
Josh currently serves as the assistant track and cross country coach at Trinity Presbyterian School, where he helped coach the boys cross country team to its first 4A State Championship in 2015.
